This year July 4th fell on a friday and usually we love to watch it as a family together. However we believe the bible's teaching that God has set a special day at the end of every week (7th day) for us to rest from the worry of working, bills, exams, you name it….from all personal activities to spend time with each other and to spend time with Him (see Genesis 2:1,2; Exodus 20:8-11, Isaiah 58:12,13, Matthew 4:16, Hebrews 4:9, Revelation 14:12 etc). Well I thought that we would just miss the fireworks this year but Shonoi found out about fireworks on saturday night at the Woodhome Country Club about five minutes from our home. It was a win-win situation because we honor God's day of rest not a day that we or any other human institution decide to choose and also watch the fireworks after. Big shout out to Woodhome for putting on a good show.
This final image brings to mind the word of Jesus Christ found in Luke 21:36: Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. We know that He is going to come again (see John 14:1-3, 1 Corinthians 15:51-58, 1 Thessalonian 4:16-17, Rev 1:7). I conclude by leaving you with the prophecy found in Isaiah 66:22,23 :
“For just as the new heavens and the new earth,
which I will make,
will endure before Me”—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
“so your offspring and your name will endure.
23 All mankind will come to worship Me
from one New Moon to another
and from one Sabbath to another,”
says the Lord.
